Why Is My Sub-Zero Not Making Ice?
The short answer
Usually the ice maker is off, its arm is up, the filter is choked or the water is not reaching it, and all of that is yours to check.
Check in this order
- Look for the ice-cube icon or the word ICE on the panel; if neither shows, switch the ice maker on and wait 24 hours.
- Push the shut-off arm down, seat the bin level and clear any cube wedged in the mechanism.
- Check the freezer setting: Sub-Zero recommends 0°F, and the ice maker wants 5°F or colder.
- Switch the unit off and reseat the water filter, or fit a new one if its icon is lit.
- Open the water line's shut-off valve fully, then look above the ice maker for a frozen fill tube.

Behind the answer
A Sub-Zero in-unit ice maker is slow by design: about eight cubes every two to three hours, and no water until the freezer reaches its set temperature. Empty for a day after a change is normal; empty for two is not.
If all five checks pass, the fault sits past the supply: a valve that will not open, a stalled module or low pressure. A meter tells which.
